Old Dogs Review

I am always on the lookout for a movie that has good clean fun for the whole family.  We look for movies that the little people in our family can enjoy as well as the big people.  When I revieiwed Old Dogs, I had concept in mind as the jacket clearly states - "Fun for the Whole Family."

Synopsis:  Dan (Robin Williams) and his best friend and business partner Charlie (John Travolta) are on the verge of the biggest deal in the history of their sports marketing firm when their lives are turned upside down by a surprise visit from Dan’s ex-wife Vicki (Kelly Preston). Vicki has big news for Dan—their ever-so-brief liaison produced twins Zach (Conner Rayburn) and Emily (Ella Bleu Travolta), now seven-years-old and in need of a dad to keep an eye on them for two weeks. With only high-living playboy Charlie for support, Dan’s bumbling attempts at “on the job training” in fatherhood result in a series of disastrously funny exploits that lead him to a new understanding of what really matters in life. Featuring an extraordinary cast of comedy purebreds including Seth Green, Matt Dillon and Lori Loughlin, Old Dogs will have audiences rolling over and begging for more.

My Opinion:  This movie was hilarious and almost too much at times. This would not have been my favorite kind of movie as the comedy bordered on just plain dumb at times.  However, the last time I said that about a movie, my brother thought it was great.  My husband who also viewed it with me found that the majority of the humor was over the top but towards the end, he was glued and dying of laughter.  The movie has a sweet story of a father getting to know his children for the first time and the sacrifices he must make to get to know them.

There were times when the humor was not appropriate for young children and they might question what the actors were talking about.  Overall my husband and I would give this movie a B rating.  He would probably watch again but I don't know as I would have my two year old watch it.

You can purchase Old Dogs - 3 Disc Blu-ray Combo Pack (Includes DVD + Digital Copy) from Amazon.com or any local store that carries DVDs.

Precious & Few: Making Family Memories and Traditions Sweeter

As a mom, I have learned how fast my children grow and I trying to preserve each memory because they are so precious and not as plenteous as I thought they would be.  When I found out about Precious & Few, I had to share this sweet company with you.  She has the sweetest gowns that are made especially to be precious heirlooms.

These gowns are heirloom christening gowns and while we do not have our children baptized, we do have them dedicated to the Lord.  This is an important time for us because it is time where we give our precious gifts (our children) back to the Lord.  It is something that I hope my children do when they have children.  It is a precious family tradition that has such deep meaning.

As we carry this tradition from generation to generation, wouldn't a sweet gown like what Precious & Few makes be just the sweetest thing?  Each gown features fine linen and silk fabrics, lovely lace, ribbon and rosebud trim and beautiful workmanship.  Each one can also be monogrammed to make it even more special.

Kathleen Lagas had the desire to help families preserve their family memories with a precious heirloom just like they did long ago in Ireland.

You can purchase one of these precious heirloom gowns from Precious & Few.  What a precious gift this would be for a new mother.

Wordless Wednesday - Handsome!

Organizing My Office

The last few days, I have not been posting as much because I am working on organizing my office space. Working at home has its great moments due to the smiles, hugs, and and love that is showered on top of me all day; however, it can also have some moments of disorganization or two year old coloring marks all over my day planner.

What was your phone number?  Oh, I don't know because my two year drew a flower on top of it.  That sounds so professional - don't you think?  Or how about - I can't call you back because my seven month old drowned my phone in his own slobber so my phone is a little soggy and doesn't work right now?  That is the life of the professional, blogging mommy and normally my office space is the comfy corner of our couch - only inhabited wht the kids are sleeping.

My husband and I decided that in order to reduce the chaos and control the coloring marks and slobber on my important office tools that I would get a desk and office space in my utility room.  So in between listening to the washing machine and the dishwasher, I am trying to practice network cable management and get all the right wires where they are suppose to be.  I am thankful that I am just dealing with cables rather than full fiber optic systems because my precocious two year old has been "helping mommy" create her office and anything fragile will have been broken by now.

So as you read your deals and my other posts, pray for me as I continue to move my office.  I am hoping that it makes me more effective and more organized even though I think I just might miss some of those crayon marks.

Heavy Crown Jewelry: For the Frugal Bride

When I think of weddings, the first thought that comes to mind is the sweet love that the couple has for each other.  Then the second thought that comes to my cynical mind is the cost of such a precious time.  Brand new babies and weddings seem to be so costly even though they are some the sweetest and most important events in your life.

I know of four brides this year and each one of them is trying their hardest to have nice weddings without the tremendous cost.  When I came across Heavy Crown Jewelry, I was impressed with the price and quality of the wedding bands that they had to offer.  As soon as I saw this site, a conversation with one my bride friends came to mind.

She was asking my brother and group of other guys what rings they liked the best.  My brother said he loved his Tungsten Carbide because of the quality and durability of the ring.  It has never been scratched and is resistant to tarnishing.  He highly recommended his ring so when I saw Heavy Crown Jewelry today - I knew that this was her solution.

Heavy Crown Jewelry has a large selection of men's wedding bands in both Tungsten Carbide and Titanium.  Most have the comfort fit and are very affordable.  You can purchase a ring for between $45 - $65 with free shipping!  These rings are more than half the price of what you would pay for the same ring in a jewelry store!

If you are in the market for an affordable, good quality wedding band, I highly recommend checking out Heavy Crown Jewelry

Beaded Hope Review

Beaded Hope by Cathy Liggett is the incredible story of the journey that four women took into South Africa.  They assumed that they were going to help the women of South Africa.  Little did they realize that the trip would shed light on their self centeredness and selfishness.  Cathy Liggett weaves a beautiful story of what real faith is, what it can do, and the strength to go on even in the midst of the worst trials.

Beaded Hope was an incredibly good book that really touched my heart.  It showed to me how I wasn't much different than the four women that went to Africa.  It showed me areas where I too have been selfish and self-centered.  While this is a fiction book, it is based on much truth and in fact, was inspired by a nonprofit organization called Beaded Hope

My trials and injustices seemed so little in light of the huge trials that South Africa women face.  This book is eye opening and impactful.  The plot was continually twisting and intriguing.  I would definitely highly recommend Beaded Hope
